WNBA Legend Sue Bird Justifies Diana Taurasi’s Bold Take On Caitlin Clark
Caitlin Clark hasn’t been able to live the normal life of a rookie. The No. 1 pick from the 2024 WNBA draft was expected to come into the Indiana Fever and turn the franchise around immediately.
Clark has dealt with major online scrutiny over the past month in the league, but that’s nothing new to the first-year star. She’s had people criticizing her every move, whether it’s her attitude on the bench or a physical altercation with a player or team member since her college days.
WNBA legend Sue Bird recently spoke on Diana Taurasi’s viral statement, mentioning ‘Reality is coming” for the Fever rookie. Bird was backing up Taurasi, which resurfaced as Clark’s struggles continue.

“The sad thing was having WNBA players pitted against Caitlin… nobody was questioning Caitlin’s ability…I think at the end of the day, it was just competitive athletes talking about what they’ve already been though… I don’t think that saying a college playing is going to have to adjust to a professional league is that crazy,” said Bird via Vanshay Murdock on X.
Taurasi and Clark have been closely connected since the infamous comment. There has yet to be a public interaction between the two, but when there is, every WNBA fan will have their eyes glued to the screen.
The most recent debate between Taurasi and Clark stirred after Team USA’s decision to leave Clark off the 12-team lineup and send 42-year-old Taurasi to Paris, France for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Bird, along with other veterans, have been on Taurasi’s side. It’s been clear that Tauras’s statement holds truth since Clark has shot 33% from three and 37.3% from the field. Clark is a phenomenal player, but as Bird and Taurasi agree on, she’s going to continue to have growing pains.
