Taylor Swift effect hits the Super Bowl as FIVE MILLION more female viewers tuned in for the big game in Las Vegas than last year’s… despite the popstar only being shown for 54 seconds
Taylor Swift’s influence on the Super Bowl elevated the television ratings for women as well, with five million more female viewers tuning in for the championship game than last year’s Super Bowl.
Women overall tuned at higher levels overall, with a nine percent raise, to 58.8million. Women accounted for 47.5 percent of the total Super Bowl audience, narrowing the gap with its male counterparts to 6.14million this year.
Women watching the championship game on CBS and Univision posted a 24 percent jump from last year’s Super Bowl, up to 3.95million from 3.18million.
Girls ages 12-17 reached an 11 percent increase, to 2.91million. Boys the same age only increased in viewership by six percent.
The surge is in part due to Swift attending the game after flying in from Japan to see boyfriend Travis Kelce play in the Super Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kelce is now a three-time Super Bowl winner, but dating Swift has made him massively popular
The latest data from Nielsen shows the average audience from the Super Bowl reached an average of 123.7million, higher than first thought.
Around 23million adult women under 50 tuned into the Super Bowl, an increase of eight percent. Men in the same age gap only rose four percent to 25.5million.
Women ages 35-64 more than doubled the men’s increase in the same demographic, with a seven percent rise to 26.3million, almost catching the male three percent boost to 29million.
Swift and Kelce have been dating publicly since the pop star attended a September game
The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in overtime to win the Super Bowl.
Swift and Kelce have been publicly dating since September, after she attended a Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears.
Swift was in attendance at 13 of Kansas City’s game this season, including all four playoff wins in four different cities.
The ‘Anti-Hero’ singer’s trip to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas took her from Tokyo to Los Angeles on Saturday after finishing up the Japanese leg of ‘The Eras Tour’.
Since the Super Bowl festivities ended, Swift’s world tour has continued in Melbourne, Australia.
CBS’ ratings were up across the board this season, as people tuned in to see Kelce and Swift throughout the NFL year.
The more success Kelce and Swift have as a couple, it is likely more women will be drawn to the NFL.
