After Caitlin Clark has been officially left off from the Team USA Olympic roster, the narrative shifted to what she could do next with her summer freeing up. Interestingly, sports reporter Bomani Jones dropped an intriguing idea for the Indiana Fever rookie.

According to Jones, it might be a good idea for NBC to hire Clark as a basketball analyst during the Olympics in order to really introduce the sport to those who watch the quadrennial event–whom Jones said are not really big sports fans.

Jones compared it to the role NBA veteran Draymond Green has with TNT in which he’s being called to do game analysis and commentary from time to time, whenever he’s available.

“You know what would get as many eyeballs on the women’s game as Caitlin Clark playing for the women’s Olympics team with that audience?” Jones said on his show The Right Time.

“Have Caitlin Clark on the Today Show talking about the basketball. Because clearly, the people that we are talking about who want to see her so bad, don’t really care that much about the basketball.

So maybe you use her to introduce the basketball. No different than having Draymond Green on the TNT set, just having a current player up there talking about it.”

The idea drew a flurry of reactions, with many agreeing to the proposal, including sports media personality Jemele Hill.

“This is a pretty fantastic idea,” Hill wrote.

A fan added, “Awesome idea. The ‘Grow the Game’ population can see her on TV, as frequently as NBC will have her. And while she’s in Paris she can go to every Nike & Gatorade pop-up & press junket. So the game is grown and Team USA can focus on winning gold.”

“It makes too much good sense to happen but it is a great idea,” another commenter shared.

Others, however, are against it since they want Caitlin Clark to get some much-needed rest. Some critics, meanwhile, argued that Clark doesn’t deserve such opportunity.

“Damn can yall let this rookie have an actual offseason? She deadass looks exhausted when speaking to the media…” a social media user pointed out.

A detractor asked, “What qualifications does she have for being a basketball analyst?”

While the idea is definitely quite intriguing, it’s really hard to imagine that it would happen. As many fans said, Caitlin Clark could really use the extra time to rest and work on her game as she adjusts to life in the WNBA.
