Tom Aspinall has questioned Jon Jones’s ongoing reign as the heavyweight champion. Aspinall is the current interim UFC heavyweight champion and has plans to sit on the division’s throne. However, for the British, the only obstacle is the current champion, Jon Jones.

Tom Aspinall recently did an interview with TNT Sports where he was asked about his potential fight with Jon Jones.

While responding to it, the fighter revealed that he would talk about Jones only after the champion signed the contract to fight.

Aspinal mentioned that currently, ‘Bones’ is just playing games with the UFC as well as with the fans.

Right now, the guy is playing games. Again. Trying to convince the public on what he wants and what he doesn’t want.

Which he does really really well. We can chat about Jon if and when he ever signs a contract with my name on the other side of it.

Jones shocked the world by becoming the heavyweight champion by defeating Cyril Gane via submission last year.

At UFC 295 in November, Jones was originally slated to risk his belt against heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic.

However, Jones was forced to withdraw from the fight due to a pectoral injury sustained while training.

This made it possible for Tom Aspinall to intervene and defeat Sergei Pavlovich in an incredible 69 seconds to win the interim heavyweight title.

Now that Aspinall is ready for a title unification bout, Jones has some other plans that don’t include the Brit.

Jon Jones snubs Tom Aspinall as he gives green light to potential Alex Pereira heavyweight clash

Jon Jones is one of the biggest superstars in the UFC roster and has only a few fights in his tank before retirement.

Due to this, the fighter is extremely cautious about his fighting choices. With Tom Aspinall still in the picture, Jones has shown his interest to fight Alex Pereira next.

This decision attracted a lot of criticism from fight fans, however, Jones had a befitting reply to all the doubters.

During an interaction on X, Jones addressed the issue.
You actually think me fighting Tom would be more massive than Alex and I colliding? Tom only matters in the UK, newsflash.

Pereira is one of the most polarizing figures this sport has seen.

Toms a contender who won a belt against another contender. We had to save Madison Square Gardens main event.

I’m thinking dollar signs, legacy, big picture here. Not what UK fans are dying to see. Literally just went through this with the French fans

Following his most recent accomplishment at UFC 300, Pereira is presently one of the most well-known figures in the sport.

The Brazilian is prepared to face Jones and has already expressed interest in competing in the heavyweight class.

Fight fans can witness a heavyweight match between “Poatan” and Jones if everything goes according to plan.
